Thank you for your kind assistance. I have followed your instructions as well as any blond girl can , but after turning off all apps except Internet explorer and trying to load quarantine list, AVP says [in red letters], that the quarantine failed.
I have many KIS, whatever that is and I am getting redirected many times.

So I have gotten as far as copying my zipped files to the quarantine list, but when I try to quarantine it says it can NOT quarantine. What is a blond girl doing wrong?

Appendix 3. How to send us requested files.
1. Start AVZ, choose from the menu "File"-> "Quarantine folder viewer ".
2. Mark files in the list which should be sent.
3. Click "Archive" and specify a place on the disk where the archive should be kept. We recommend to accept the default filename, i.e. virus.z
There are no files in a list. When I hit Archive, it says there are no files, yet when I go to the AVZ folder on the hard drive it shows the logs that I saved as zipped. Am I too dumb for this?

No any quarantined files needed for the present.
PS AVPtool produce only one file: avptool_syscheck.zip
Includes severe packet loss, very slow, stuttering streaming, DSL speed slow, frequent redirection to other sites.

After reboot:
- Clean Temp-Maps, Cache of Browsers, Recycler. Use Windows service tool [URL="http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B315246&x=17&y=6"]cleanmgr[/URL] or [URL="http://www.ccleaner.com/"]CCleaner[/URL] or [URL="http://www.clearprog.de/"]ClearProg[/URL]
- Close all the programs and start only Internet Explorer!!!
- Repeat 3 logs. Hijackthis log should be UNPACKED uploaded.
- Switch Antivirus and, if you have - Firewall, on.
- Go On-Line
- Upload the quarantine over the link [COLOR="Red"][B]Upload quarantined files[/B][/COLOR] on the top of this page (for more details s. appendix 2 and 3 of the rules).
- Attach 3 logs to your new post..
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. But when I try to run the custom script you have provided, I get an error that says
"script error *.* expected, position [16:1]
And all AVZ functions freeze.
The custom script page has RUN, but no EXECUTE.

Hey Renee-Gad, I tried that once and it caused big problems. Apparently it has something to do with my AMD processor. I can probably find a workaround if I try, I just didn't know how important it is. Do you know of a solution? And thanks AGAIN. Rosie8)

Yes, I know about it :) The main problem is: WITHOUT SP3 your PC is not safe. Try to solve the problem, e.g. in such way: [url]http://msinfluentials.com/blogs/jesper/archive/2008/05/08/does-your-amd-based-computer-boot-after-installing-xp-sp3.aspx[/url]
Thanks for the reference to a very informative page. I am still a little intimidated. But if you say it is important, then I will continue to find the safest way to protect my computer and install sp3. Thank you!8)
