Hi,
Well, the last time I was here everything worked wonderfully, so I thought I'd come back for this batch of trouble....
I ran Windows OneCare a few days ago and it notified me that I was again infected with some variety of the Boaxxe (or however it's spelled) Trojan/backdoor/whatever heinous creation it is. There were absolutely no symptoms this time (the "outgoing mail" thing has stopped permanently - thanks again!), but a sense of slowness and creeping skepticism made me worry.
Looking at the scans I ran today shows that this is only the first of many problems, apparently. Yes, that is the correct HijackThis log; I just renamed it with the date.
Your sage guidance in dealing with these offenders would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I'll be "editing" my bookmarks, and when this is all done I promise - Scout's honor - to download the new version of Firefox.
I just hope my downloaded trial of Kaspersky - which refuses to fully shut down or uninstall - isn't interfering.
Thanks very much - again; looking forward to solving this as effectively as last time.
